Hi-speed or high-energy finishers are a type of finishing equipment that utilizes a greater amount of energy or force to polish materials in mass. This high energy allows workpieces to be finished in just a matter of minutes, making this finishing method ideal for when time is of the essence. The most popular methods of hi-speed finishing include centrifugal (disc & barrel) and drag/stream finishing equipment, which produce uniform results in a fraction of the time of other finishing methods.

Centrifugal finishers are widely used and known for their aggressive high-energy mass finishing technique. They use centrifugal force to create intense contact between the workpiece and the media, enabling aggressive work to be done within a short period. This type of finishing method is perfect for deburring and polishing intricate parts that cannot be reached by conventional vibratory finishing.

On the other hand, drag/stream finishers use high-speed motion to generate high contact pressure between the workpiece and the media, resulting in high-precision edge rounding with a smooth or mirror finish of perfect quality. This type of finishing is ideal for high-value delicate workpieces that must not have nicks on their surfaces and workpieces made from hard metals such as high-alloy steel, tool steel, or parts with a high surface hardness.
